Hi backers! How have you been? It's been a long time since I posted an update and a few special backers have made it pretty clear it's time to do that. Time flies and I offer my sincere apologies.
Here are the nuts and bolts:
- I've complete over 60 pages so far. Here's a sampling.
(I'm hesitant to show full pages at this point because I don't want to spoil things. But maybe later after I have time to think about what I don't want you to know.)
- I have expanded the story slightly to make sure volume 1 is action packed. After funding the project and revisiting the script for all three volumes, I felt like the volume 1 didn't push the story as much as the other two. So I restructured everything to tell the same story in a way that gives you more to chew on in this book. I now project that the final book will come in around 90 or 100 pages (I believe my original projection was 80). More fun for you! The down side is...
- With a slightly longer book it became clear I would need a bit more money to make it to the end of the drawing and printing process. So for two months I returned to my day job as a video editor and oversaw the editing of a TV show called Painting The Town with Eric Dowdle. The show combines two things I love: travel and art. It was fun. I'm glad I'm back home and drawing again. Choosing the set the work aside for a time and delay completion was very difficult. I apologize for the delay and hope to make it up to you with a great product.
- I think I need approximately 2 more months to finish this thing well. I don't want to rush it. After that there will be some additional time to do the printing and shipping. I don't know exactly how long this will all take as it is my first time going through that part.
- I promise to give you regular updates from here on out. I am well-tempered for the semi-solitary life of an illustrator, but posting regular updates is not in my nature. Nevertheless, I will do better and keep you all informed.
