What's the difference between the standard edition of the book and the limited gold edition?
The pages of the book are exactly the same and have similar covers. The standard edition cover has spot gloss (specific areas that are glossy while the rest of the cover has a matte finish) to create a faint flower border and draw attention to a few key areas. The gold edition has gold foil stamping along with some spot gloss. The gold foil design is a nod to the look of gold sari patterns and borders. The spot gloss is intended to imply something hidden but faintly visible in the darkness, much like our hero who moves in shadows. The gold edition also has french folds on the front and back cover that contain small illustrations, a plot description, and an author introduction.

Where do you ship?
If you backed the kickstarter during the campaign, we’re shipping everywhere (wherever you asked when you backed the project). Add-ons and anything ordered on Backerkit are only available in the United States.

End of October. (All rewards are printed/made and ready to ship. No production or work delays are expected.)

How long will shipping take?
All US shipping will be through USPS media mail or ground. It varies by region but most backers will get their rewards in fewer than two weeks from the shipping date (by Mid-November or earlier). International shipping is variable and, with potential tariffs, unpredictable.

What will the packaging look like?
There are multiple packaging setups. If you buy a standard edition book with our without prints it will be shipped in a brown cardboard mailer. Shipments containing either 1) the limited gold edition book or 2) any book or prints AND one or more pins will come in the black box with packing confetti as pictured in the video above. ie the black box is for deluxe books or orders that contain paper goods AND pins. Shipments containing ONLY pins will be sent in a poly bag. Orders of multiple pins also come with a free, sari-inspired potli (decorative bag). For large shipments it will depend entirely on what’s cheap and available because I haven’t planned for that.

What’s the book rated?
PG-13 (in my unofficial opinion) because of the topic, language, and violence. There is no depiction of sex. Sexual violence, including victimization of children is implied and discussed but not shown. It is heavy at times. Trauma is a major theme.

Why does it say Jack Waters on the cover of the book if it's written by Evan Carpenter? Who is Jack Waters?
It’s all part of the story. From cover to cover, the book doesn’t break character, except on the publication page where it mentions in small print that I am actually the creator. Read everything, including the prologue and book reviews. Get into it, let yourself be surprised, and go with the flow.

Which NGOs are you supporting with pin proceeds?
I’ve had a hard time making my mind up about that. I would like to support a small organization because a small donation like ours will be more impactful, but it also increases the chances of misuse. There is some fraud in this space. So I am looking at several options in India and Nepal and will do my best to select an NGO that will spend these donations wisely. I will keep you updated and provide receipts when the donation is made (before end of year).

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
